TraitGenetics has a set of several hundred proprietary microsatellite markers available for use in genetic analyses and mapping in barley. We have used these proprietary and public microsatellite markers in a variety of projects. Specific sets of highly polymorphic markers have been assembled that can be used for variety identification and the establishment of molecular marker databases in barley. Through cooperation with the Institute for Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, TraitGenetics has developed markers for specific genes, such as the ym4/ym5 virus resistance genes, that are useful for marker-assisted selection in winter barley. Specific markers for other candidate genes can be developed upon request. ym4-marker analysis
